Whipped Cream with Floral Rose Water Essence
Whipped cream is a wonderful accompaniment to any dessert. This slightly sweetened whipped cream is voluminous and light, and the floral muskiness of the rose adds a delicate elegance to the cream.
Makes roughly 3/4 of a cup
1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream
1/4 tsp. of good quality rose water
2 tsp. granulated sugar - or to taste
1 conservative drop of pink or red food coloring (optional)
Place your sugar, 1/4 tsp. of rose water and food coloring (if you're adding any) in a stand mixer bowl. Mix the ingredients together, so that incorporating the flavor and color will be easier later. Add the 1/2 cup of cream, and mix at a low speed. As the cream starts to thicken, increase the speed of the mixer to a high-medium speed. Whip the cream just until soft but sturdy peaks form. The cream should hold its shape when the whisk is removed, and shouldn't be completely stiff.
Whipping the cream to the desired consistency should only take a few minutes. Avoid over-whipping.
Alternatively, you can whip the cream by hand, or use a hand mixer.
Dollop this luscious cream onto your desserts, et voilà ! - you've got a pretty and delicious way to make your sweets even fancier.
